General Security Awareness Training Course
The requirements
General Security
Awareness Training (GSAT) is a requirement of EC Regulation 2320. In
the UK, GSAT applies to all applicants
and holders of a full pass granting unescorted access to the
Restricted Zone (RZ).
From 28 January
2008
applicants must provide evidence that they have successfully
completed a full GSAT course; or provide evidence of 'equivalence'.
By 19 January 2009
anyone who was the holder of a full pass at 28 January 2008 must
have provided evidence that they have discharged the GSAT
requirements or their pass will be suspended.

T he
solution
We have jointly
developed the GSAT course with one of UK's largest
airports to fulfil the Department for Transport requirements.
It
is a CBT (computer based training) course which is available over
the internet or on CD Rom, providing the ultimate in flexibility and
individuality. The course can be taken securely online or over
a local network/intranet and takes in the region of four hours to
complete.
The course has been
designed for all non-security personnel working airside. It is
intuitive and easy to use and doesn’t require the user to have any
previous computer experience.
Providing a grounding
in aviation security procedures, the GSAT course equips staff with
an understanding of how to identify and deal with potentially
dangerous situations, enabling them to understand the action to take
in the event of an emergency, including:
- The threat and organisation of aviation
security
- Threats to civil aviation; including
terrorism
- Security systems, badges and
authorisation areas
-
Bomb threats and evacuation procedures
 Training to suit every
individual’s need
Each user has a personal login and
password and can progress at their own pace; stopping and starting
as they wish. For convenience the course can be interrupted at
any time and subsequently resumed from the same point at a later
date until the final assessment has been completed.
 Effective learning
The GSAT course is broken down into
discrete modules, with interactive exercises used at every
opportunity to reinforce key messages. At the end of each module a
multiple choice test must be undertaken prior to moving on. Should
the test need to be taken more than once a new bank of questions
will be selected from a pre-defined library which can be further
tailored to meet your airport’s needs. Upon successful completion of
the course a certificate is issued to each candidate.
