SmartSystem Errors
While accessing Smart Course Admin when we try to enter the "editor" for each lesson. A pop-up appears - OpenCurPrinter "Error initialising printer" followed by a runtime out of memory.

A default printer has not been enabled on the server The fix is to enabled a default printer, or install a printer

When logging into Smart Screen or Smart User it shows “Run-time error 3265 Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal.”

Check the date format - It should be set to UK or US format. If the date format is not the cause then forward information to SmartApproach - need to find out exactly where the run time error is displayed, on what page, what action was last taken and what can be seen in the background.

Error “db version mismatched db must be greater than 4.7501”

The database has become corrupted. Make sure all users are signed out of the system. Use the dbrepair utility, located on server.

SmartSystem Known Issues

Laptops – font set to “small font” but images distorted with items in wrong location.

Use right mouse button click on the desktop. Select Properties, Settings. Check font is small font” and graphics card is 800 x 600. If problem still exists it may be set to stretch the image – change to true size.

While taking the Image Test, some of the images seem to be very dark and distorted.

Compare images with another workstation. If the same images are fine you may need to alter the Display settings, otherwise remove the problem images from the image test library.

Unable to view SRT written results - SRTResults.TXT file missing from C:\Smartmedia\media\exercises\srtmedia. Shortcut Icon to create the SRT.EXE also missing

Create SRT.EXE shortcut Icon on the desktop, then Copy SRTResults.TXT file from another system.

SmartSystem installation registration confirmation does not show correct details

Installation of Smartsystem over an existing copy picks up old registration details. The folders containing the original version must be removed or renamed and the system registration file must be cleared of any reference to the previous installed Smartsystem.

Screener timer stops if session is left running for long period (18+ hours)

Timer display does not effect operation of system

When viewing a report and you click on some of the text it will become outlined by a red border.
When viewing a report and you place the cursor over one of the page numbers the cursor changes to a magnifying glass, suggesting you can zoom that part of the page but you cannot

This is a function of Crystal Report software that cannot be changed

When viewing a report, and you click on something in the tree the page counter goes blank and stays that way until you click the arrow at the bottom of the screen

Crystal Reports is unable to identify the page number when using the tree to navigate the report. Therefore the page counter field is cleared instead of displaying erroneous information

When viewing a report, Tooltips shows Field validation on mouse over

This is a function of Crystal Report software that cannot be changed

During tests, If the pointer is moved from the answer button onto the audio button quickly, the highlight doesn't show until the pointer is moved away

This is an effect of the fx label being used that cannot be overwritten. As it is a very minor cosmetic issue that happens only when a mouse move is very quick.

Tooltips Being Displayed in startup screen if you move the mouse over the SA icon

Constraint of using the MediaPlayer control, does not effect functionality.

A white box momentarily appears in the title bar of Xray Machine Administration when clicking on the belt speed

Only happens the first time. Does not effect functionality

SmartSystem Administration Issues When trying to review a session, or switch between administration functions, there is a long delay. System may appear to hang.

Logon as an administrator, and use SmartSystem Administration, Data Archiving to perform an archive. This should be done at regular intervals. Set the reminder appropriately

Programme hangs when a user clicks on start session

Check that no foreign letters have been used in the system, if present then remove. Try switching all users back to a global setting.

No audio present, only key click sound - audio files missing.

Logon as an administrator, and use SmartSystem Administration, Data Archiving to perform an archive. This should be done at regular intervals. Set the reminder appropriately

SmartCourseAdmin, editing and replaying scripts, audio files cutting short at random places

Only happens if the script is stopped then re-started. The audio is not permanently effected, i.e. it all runs fine when the script is run again

SmartCourseAdmin, 'Assign to User', the Mouse freezes and table rows size change

This is a known XP issue. Rebooting solves by resetting the machines font settings.
